Top of the World was the previous name of The Frequency D’ici.

Top of the World Theatre Company was formed in 2001 by Tom Frankland, Tiernan Hanby and Sébastien Lawson who met whilst studying Drama at the University of Hull. The company was created to produce “new and neglected theatre” starting with the UK premiere of ‘Scooter Thomas Makes it to the Top of the World’ by Peter Parnell. The show was premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that year to great acclaim (“An accomplished piece of work, worthy of the high praise it’s been receiving” The Scotsman, “An impressive, virtuoso performance...” Three Weeks). ‘Scooter Thomas’ then toured around the UK, performing in theatres, arts centres and schools. Following the success of this production, the company then produced a production of William Shakespeare’s ‘Coriolanus’ in 2003, touring to venues in the Southwest alongside a series of educational workshops.

Since then, the founding members have moved in different directions, collaborating with other practitioners, studying and film making.
