About me
I am currently working as Stage & Production Manager on We Will Rock You, running the show and stage automation as well as managing a technical team and production cast. Scheduling, budgeting and set and prop maintenance as well as get ins and outs of the venue are all part of my current job role.Prior to this I was Company Stage Manager (on the book) for Those Magic Beans at York Barbican. During the show I ran LX and AV and called the show. Throughout the rehearsal process I attended the rehearsals creating the prompt script through the process, led the SM team as well as working and liaising with the Director to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both cast and crew.
From May 2016- Sept 2017 I was Stage & Production Manager for the innovative venue Two70 on Anthem of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas. I was working on visually and robot incorporated productions 'Spectra's Cabaret' and 'Starwater'. These shows and venues combine stage automation, flying and robotics to create a visual spectacle in a dynamic stage space.
I have previous experience in admin work including reports (show and rehearsal), budget management and handling petty cash, scheduling, maintenance logs as well as props lists (sourcing and maintenance). I have led a number of get ins and outs across various venues on tour in the UK as well as on board Royal Caribbean.
Similarly I have worked in a variety of venues managing the staff and space ensuring that everything runs to time and according to the entertainment schedule. Prior to this I worked on Serenade of the Seas for 2 contracts also as Head Stage Staff.
I graduated from University of Hull in 2013 with a degree in BA(Hons) Drama and Theatre Practice. I have previous experience as a Producer for Jorvik Theatre and LX Designer/Technician with Just Some Theatre Company, touring with both companies before joining Royal Caribbean in November 2013.
Additional skills:
I have a great deal of experience in all areas of Stage Management. Professional experience both in the UK and abroad has enabled me to adapt to different environments and ways of working. I have done a lot of touring and festival work including the Edinburgh Fringe on a number of occasions.
I have also directed shows throughout the years in an educational environment, a primary school production at Battyeford School as well as Jim Cartwright's 'Two' in the Donald Roy Theatre, November 2012.
I am of Grade 7/8 standard in tenor saxophone and clarinet and have attained my intermediate higher in RAD Ballet.

Just Some Theatre
Stephanie worked on our debut UK tour of 'Coward'. Steph operated both lights and sound for the show and also designed the lighting for the production. She is the type of person that will just say 'YES!' to anything you ask. All the team got on great with Steph and any she fits in brilliantly. Very hard working, and also got the company some great reviews as well as her own personal mention in some of the reviews. Great to have on the team, plain and simple.
"Scenes are punctuated with appropriate music of the period and the lighting (by Stephanie Balmforth) is atmospheric and discreet." - One Stop Arts
