Paris, nowadays. David, in his twenties, lives in the present. He juggles between different odd jobs and for a while, takes the time to choose more engaging. Solitary and dreamy, he falls in love with Lena, a freshly arrived neighbour. The quiet course of things vanishes when her older sister dies brutally in an attack. He finds himself in charge of his seven-year-old niece, Amanda.
