 An Ordinary Life Short Synopsis Three stories of struggle, loss and the search for an ordinary existence weave together as one life glances past the other. Simon is facing a stark choice; to take the job offer he’s been waiting for or to look after his ailing father Joe who is struggling to find any passion for life and existence. Kieran is young, out of work and bored with life until he spots something hidden away in a locked old garage that creates a spark of interest. Priya is 80 but together with her husband Dev enjoy a day’s shopping before returning home.. All these stories explore similar themes and reality of today’s care and society. Each story looks at the difficulties faced not just by someone suffering but the responsibility family and loved ones face in an ever aging population. It brings some of the characters into each other’s path with consequences that may change their future. Characters Joe – (Bill Whymper) - Early 70’s , struggling with confidence, falls, bad leg, confusion. Anger. Lonely Simon – (Nik Wood -Jones) Joes Son. (late 40’s/early 50’s) Faces up to a stark choice to be made as his father Joe is gripped by age. He looks deeper at his own life as a choice presents itself between a father and a new opportunity Priyas story– Priya Rajvansh, Born in India. Anglo/Asian (mid late 70s). Swept back hair beneath a traditional sari. She enjoys hers time in town and in the home she loves with her husband Dev. wanders back from shopping and then around her home she loves with her husband Dev. But all is not quite as it seems for Priya Dev – early 70’s, Born India . Anglo/Asian. appears younger than Priya. Well dressed, groomed, almost dapper. Married to Priya for 50 years (before his death at age 72) Kieran’s Story – Kieran (19) bored, unemployed and lacking any goals or any sight of a future life until he spots something that sparks a passion. Pasty, hooded. Mike – (Daniel Brown) . Decorator and Kieran’s ever nagging Dad. Is the link between the three stories as he discovers Priya. Rita – English, Indian Descent . Priyas daughter – Mid 40’s. smart, business like but hassled, rushed. Collects Priya. Realisation of the future
