The film is essentially about music, but also about the characters behind the music. The main character Randy is a young musician who can't seem to get a break. He is accompanied by Marty an old musician past his prime and stuck in his old ways. The antagonist is Todd, a big shot musician who Randy looks up to and Marty can't stand the sight of.
