'Women, Fashion, Stories'

A film inspired by women, fashion and their stories. Every female, no matter what her age, has at least one favourite item that she cherishes and cannot throw away. Maggie Semple Ltd - Before I set up the business I tested my idea and found that women have amazing stories attached to their clothes. It doesn’t matter if the clothing is new, not so new, bought, a gift, or inherited – there will always be a fascinating story attached to it. During the last year I have met thousands of women and will continue to do so on-line and at our events. There is always something exciting about having an idea and making it real. And there is nothing more rewarding than acting on a passion. In 2010 I set up Maggie Semple Limited (MSL) a business inspired by women, fashion and their stories. MSL has a number of strands of activity but what unites them all is that I know that Every female, no matter what her age, has at least one favourite item that she cherishes and cannot throw away. I have quite a few items in my wardrobe and there is one that is 25 years old and I still wear it! A classic shift sleeveless cotton dress that is simple yet elegant. Maggie Semple OBE has worked with many public and private sector organisations usually at a senior level and has established a successful profile spanning broadcasting, print and digital media. In October 2010 Maggie founded Maggie Semple Limited to coincide with the publication of her book ‘Women, Fashion, Stories’ and now uses the concept behind the book to run ‘Semple Secrets’ a series of conversations with inspirational women from a diverse range of fields. Currently Maggie serves on a range of Boards including the British Library, National Museums of Science & Industry (NMSI), Brit School, Sadler’s Wells Theatre Trust and the Southbank Centre. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Criminal Cases Review Commission, Chair of the Dana Centre at the Science Museum, Chair of the National Research & Development Centre at the Institute of Education (London) and Chair of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT).
