Four For The Border

2017, 100 minutes

Wrongly believing that they have committed a crime and pursued by a variety of seedy characters, three troubled teens in New Mexico steal a racehorse that is about to be forced to throw a race and flee to Mexico – a journey that will change their lives fo

Fleeing the London criminals she has scammed, POLLY takes the money and runs to remote New Mexico, hauling her reluctant and feisty daughter SKYE with her. While parents negotiate the deal for a small ranch the kids become involved with the horse TENBUCKS and an innocent accident causes the apparent murder of a neighbour. Misunderstanding of both the circumstances, each other and of life itself, provokes the crisis that becomes their journey – actual and emotional. The three kids flee on Tenbucks believing they are all four being hunted for murder. They head for the Mexican border – because that’s what they always do in movies. Their desperate adventures form the narrative backbone of the story as the endearing rascals butt heads, conflict ideas, touch on and drown in every taboo they can find, evolve, despair and finally become heroic in their pursuit of youthful freedom and the discovery of the words to the song of self discovery – the heart of the story. They evade the law and other hostile pursuers plus the sometimes surreal world of wilderness – which challenges them with the mirror image of everything you’d expect and want…Indians, bad guys, critters, storms, a Punjabi seer and taxi driver, rustlers, train robberies, shootouts and other extreme tests of character. Combining their fast evolving resourcefulness, maturity and slow abandonment of Self for Teamwork and aided by the doughty and unfailingly ‘wise’ Tenbucks, they make it to fulfill their dream and find their destinies. If only life was that simple. If only it was this much fun. If only they made movies like this again.
