Rita's monologue explaining to Frank why it's taken her so long to take a third level course.

Rita is a young hairdresser who has decided to take a course through the Open University in English Literature, despite her background having done nothing to encourage or prepare her for the world of academia. At the Open University she meets Frank, a jaded Professor, who has turned to alcohol in an effort to cope with his unhappiness. He is to be her tutor. The play is about their relationship, and ultimately, about Rita finding a strength she didn't know she had.
