Mothers Day

2008, 20 minutes

A story of strained relationships, drugs, prostitution and murder. All is not what it seems.

Mothers Day is essentially about strained relationships and the lengths that some people would go to end these forever. The characters Mandy and Darren are teenagers who are mixed up with drugs, prostitution and stealing. At a train staion they meet Hattie, a loner and quiet individual. They befriend her whilst waiting for the train. However in the course of the film, it becomes apparent that all three have had turbulent relationships with their parents. Mandy is abused by her father and both Darren and Hattie's parents are alcoholics. Although Mandy and Darren have decided to run away from their problems, it would seem that Hattie has confronted hers in a truly sadistic manner. At all times keeping her suitcase close to her, it does not take long for Darren to realise that something precious is inside. He decides to steal it and Mandy reluctently agrees. Little do they know the grotesque and horrifying item that awaits inside. Something that will change all of their lives forever. This film really is not what it seems and the twist at the end sends a chill to any viewer.
