Negative

2010, 5 minutes

This experimental film is a mood piece just as much as it is a reflection of modern society.

The film 'Negative' is a narrative experiment. All film and sound fragments were recorded separately without any scripting. The actors were asked to perform 1min rants during which the director was absent. Later, everything was edited into a random narrative dialogue rhythm inspired by the Kuleshov Effect and aspects of semiotic theory. Everything was filmed on a vintage Canon Super 8 camera and the actual film negatives were not processed into film positives, hence the title. This experimental film is a mood piece just as much as it is a reflection of modern society. It stands for the unique ways in which we interpret narrative and plays with the audiences perceptions of emotions.
