The film surrounds the tale of three different bank robbers of three different eras . Carmen is a Mexican woman in 1899 whose husband was killed a few years before the movie starts in a bank robbery. Unknown to the protagonist ( who is the bank thief) she seeks vengeance for her loss which leads to an emotional confrontation between the two of them. The overall message of the film is that it explores a human story about facing up to their pasts, if they can change the error of their ways and are ultimately tales of tragedy and redemption. A social commentary on the futility of money and that nothing changes in that regard.
