Three young interns discover a UFO crash site, but when a biological weapon bonds to one of them they are pursued by a shadowy corporation.

A low-income intern, Wayne, stumbles across an alien crash site in the woods, where a biomechanical device attaches itself to his hand. He returns home to his housemates, another two interns, and together they discover the device is a weapon. Meanwhile, a sinister corporation, comprised largely of mercenaries, find out about the weapon and resolve to acquire it at any cost. While out one night, one of the interns is mugged at knifepoint. Wayne intervenes, but accidentally kills the mugger. Unsure of what to do next, the three youths are visited by two armed mercenaries. A shootout transpires, and after killing the mercenaries with the use of the weapon, the gang decide to leave town. Their attempt is interrupted by the corporation ambushing them in a helicopter. Wayne and his friends are taken captive, and the corporation seek to extract the device by cutting off his arm. However, as the weapon fuses further with Wayne's body, he becomes increasingly powerful and is able to break free. The three make a dramatic escape, ending in a fight between Wayne and the director of the corporation, who reveals at the point of death that there are other divisions that will be coming after them. Wayne acknowledges this, and ingests an antivirus that should stop the device interacting with his body. The film ends with the three interns at a new house, but Wayne is still showing signs of infection. The state of his weapon-hand is unknown.
