Based in a strangely multi-layered Paris some decades in the future, this very "noir" black-and-white animated feature has affinites with The Fifth Dimension and Sky Captain and the World of tomorrow. It's a high-octane pursuit movie, kidnap, crime-busting plot with a look that commands admiration. The detailed motion-capture technology, right down to eye movements replicated using miniature digicams set in spectacle frames, brings something highly innovatory to the whole CGI world.
