Stories from Bomber Command is a one hour programme made in cooperation with Images of War and Chicane Films that tells the personal stories of the brave airmen of Bomber Command in World War Two. We follow the never before told stories of rear gunner Harry Irons and navigator Peter Davys. It’s been lovingly and thoughtfully shot in high definition and presented, alng with the archive footage, in widescreen for that cinematic feel and presentation which helps draw viewers into the tense and heartbreaking real life stories. Shot on location, these men tell of their experiences flying over occupied Europe during the dark days of the Third Reich. Audiences are invited to follow along the journey of these individuals, following them from tehir decision to join the war effort, their days training right through to the day victory was declared and their life post war. Supported by archive footage and with input and commentary from noted historian and author Kevin Wilson, this programme brings to life the dangers, the camaraderie, and the losses operating in heavy bombers over enemy territory night after night.
