The Bricklayer

2015, 76 minutes

The Bricklayer lays his last brick.

Bricks. The blocks from which our world is made. The blocks from which we make our homes, the means by which we keep our families safe. And whole. To understand bricks – to really understand them- is a gift and an art. A bricklayer can take a block of sand and make a city. He can deliver dreams. Brick by brick. But walls can tumble down. They do for the bricklayer. Safe in the home he had made he was not prepared for the intruder who breaks the body of an artist and brings the walls of a life – and a family – to ruin. Jericho. Years on, into the crumbling ruin of a life, the same intruder returns. Too blinded by his need for drugs to recognise the place – the man – he has destroyed. Yet there amongst the broken walls waits the bricklayer- his power and his family gone. He cannot rebuild his life; but brick by inevitable brick, he can fashion his death. And exact his revenge. His final masterpiece the tomb that seals his life and the fate of the man who brought that life to ruin.
