The Fair Sex

2009, 14 minutes

A 12 minute short film about three generations of women loosely connected by a necklace.

The first character is Charlee. Her burlesque act is out of step with changes at the strip club, which creates a dilemma for her. Deborah, a middle aged house wife seeks to balance her husband's disinterest and attraction to a more youthful flesh. Jene's old fashioned jewelry shop reflects the bygone days of her youth. The film challenges female objectification in cinema and the "male gaze." The Fair Sex short film was made by New Art Productions. The producer was BAFTA award winner Gary Holding of Loud Mouse Productions. It was written by Kieren Hughes and filmed on location in Hatton Garden, Streatham and Soho.
