Grayson is an orphan; taken in by his father's friend and his partner. Upon learning that his adoptive parents can no longer support him and are resentful of agreeing to take care of him in the first place, decides to up and leave, pursing his dream of becoming an artist. He hopes his only friend, who is enduring abuse at home will join him. Initially, she refuses, not wanting to abandon her father and leave during their final year of school. Eventually however, she has a change of heart and the two leave, moving on to greener pastures.
