The Runaway' is the story of fifteen year old Amy Robertson. Amy seeks freedom from her life at home and rejects her father's oppressive rules. Her mother passed away from cancer a year previously and after another argument with her father Amy storms out of the house again but this time she is prepared - she has packed her suitcase and heads straight for the train station and she knows where she is going - London. Amy arrives in London in a naive bliss but soon finds herself living rough in someone's garage and caught up in the ugly hidden life of the London streets with a growing addition to heroin. When the owner of the garage arrives one morning and promises to help her things look up. Margaret is a seventy five year old retired headmistress, recently widowed, very much a Good Samaritan. Margaret goes on a search for Amy's parents...
