To vima tis mousas / Marching Muse

2006, 5 minutes

Narrative Fiction,Romance

Miltos is a 30 year-old musician who lives and works in a small, underground flat in the center of Athens. He leads a lonely life, focused on his music. His inspiration, though, comes from the outside world: an unknown woman that passes outside his window every morning at the same time. The window is half buried under the pavement, so the only thing he can see are his legs, as she rushes by on her way to work and back. Even though he does not know what she looks like, he feels he can understand her through her pacing. She inspires him to compose a beautiful tune, dedicated to her. But it is not an easy process. He spends hours in front of his keyboard struggling to get the notes right. When his friend Aris comes to visit, he encourages Miltos to try and meet his muse but Miltos prefers to go on imagining her. One day, in a big mall he has the chance to see her, but misses it. He is on the brink of obsession with a woman he has never seen. One night, his muse starts crying outside his window, unknown why. Miltos sits by the window and listens to her. She reveals an unknown side to him. It is the detail he needed to complete his composition. He spends all night writing. In the morning the music is finished, Miltos can sleep in peace and his muse goes on with her life, alone.
