Walking Shadow

2013, 18 minutes

A Revenge Thriller with an underlying theme concerning the value of age and experience - a tragic drama about a lifetime’s experience being casually rejected - and about generation gaps not being bridged.

Martin is an ageing actor. He has known some fame, has good work behind him, but life has moved on and he has been forgotten, his age plays against him when jobs do appear, living with rejection becomes habitual. His considerable experience is not wanted, not least because it undermines the confidence of the younger brasher talents out there forging their own careers, fighting their own corners, taking the world by storm, developing their own new cultural identity. Martin stumbles upon an opportunity, an unexpected situation where at least an introductory audition is due to him, he deserves that minimal courtesy, there is a limit to how often he can be shrugged off, marginalised, and still retain the will to keep living. It’s an opportunity in fact that cannot be denied him. When it is denied him, when someone stands in his way, someone who reflects the ongoing endemic attitude of a society that favours the culture of younger generations, and rejects him without acceptable reason, it pushes him too far.- and she pays the price. Even the elderly can take revenge!
