What Is England?

A spoof talk on the 'history' of England, its heritage and language.

The Prince of Tourists is a fictional character, created in the image of Royalty, the upper ranks of the military and anyone held generally in high regard. He tells the viewer of how proud he is to be English and what made England what it is today. It is, however, almost entirely made up! It suggests the English invented Speech in the 17th century and that we have recently subjugated Iceland, for example. What Is England? is part of 'Aadieu Adieu Apa', an installation exhibition by Olivia Plender and is on show at Gasworks, Vauxhall Street, SE11 5RH until 15th November 2009.
