A 21st century film noir with a female protagonist, which will explore what kind of filmmaking techniques can be used to achieve the same "specific sense of alienation" as chiaroscuro and German expressionism achieved in 40s and 50s America. In a modern interpretation of the classic film noir, and by subverting typical gender roles, the film questions explores how a female protagonist would operate in this genre and what kind of alienation and anxiety she would be confronted with, as opposed to her male counterpart. The film also asks deeper questions about the nature of power, control, and change.
