Findin an agent.

Hi guys, I've been a month on CCP so far, and because I am finding it difficult to get professional acting speaking parts without an agent, I would appreciate some input and feedback on submitting to an agent only to those whose books are open to look for new clients. You think it's worth the shot ? Because so far I have a CV and a two showreel scene that I would like to show them. Many thanks

Firstly, Shivay, you need to put together a proper show reel, consisting of the best bits of the two pieces you already have (which don't seem to be listed on your CV). An agent will not touch you without a show reel, or Spotlight membership. Also, you don't seem to have ANY professional credits on your CV. You need some film experience - do some student films to get footage, put together a show reel and THEN and only THEN think about getting an Agent.
Hope this helps.

And Spotlight need you to be a graduate of a recognised drama school, or have mainline TV or Feature Film acting credits. If you are not a graduate, it is difficult to get the acting credits without an Agent - and the Agent won't want you if you are not on Spotlight. It is a bit 'chicken and egg'.

It can seem a bit frustrating at the start but please don't be put off by not having been to a recognised drama school or not having many professional credits. Keep training (you can find good acting classes in most areas) and keep putting yourself forward for unpaid work as well as paid work. This will lead to professional work. Get together with other actors and get a few more scenes for your showreel and get a website etc done. If you have a good showreel and show yourself to be hardworking and committed then agents will consider you even if you haven't gone down the traditional route (top drama school etc). Where there's a will there's a way! Good luck and keep at it.

I managed to get an agent without a show reel or accredited training when I started, keep applying for roles, keep emailing agents with personal emails and create your own work. Passion and talent is what they are looking for, best of luck and of course, keep going, it is not all negative x

Thanks guys, cool I've put the two scenes together on the PC where I used a special software editor but it does not support the feature on CCP when I want to upload it, also I have almost finished filling in an application form on Spotlight because I had an agent approached me last year because they want to represent me on Spotlight. Until that happens I can't do anything more but to keep applying jobs on CCP and sometimes requesting for a representation in order to get more acting credits ( I am still on the waiting list).

Oh and also because what I mean by almost finished the app form on Spotlight, as in they allow me to put my professional theatre training roles I played on the form under 'educational' and NOT credits (for now) but I am not too sure about my showreel because lime I said earlier I put the scenes together by the software editor because it's saved on there but let's see how it goes. Will keep you guys updated.

If you've won 3 BAFTAs, 2 Tonys, 5 Oliviers and a couple of Oscars and four movie directors are fighting over you then as Mark says EVERY agents books are open, just maybe not WIDE open :-)

I have already submitted to one of them (I'm still waiting for a reply) or shall I just keep applying till I hear at least one of the responses? What are your thoughts?

You could be waiting forever, the policy in this industry is really that people only respond if they have something positive to say, in this case offer you a meeting. So if I were you I would apply to two or three a week. You don't want to be inundated with offers, you want to choose wisely and know who you are applying to, you want to give each agent a fair chance to respond but not string you along forever.

Hello,
I am looking for an agent and I have to say that I am getting more and more confused in my search.
I gave just recently joined the castingcallpro, and I haven't added all my work in the accreditation filed.
What I am saying is that I have all the necessary experience and the showreel, but's just that I've got here from Romainia and I kind of need help.
Maybe you could give me the best of advice, and I thank you for that.
Good day...:)
