Hey folks.

Just a quick question. Whats the difference between 'accredited and recognized' on Drama UK website?

Are recognized courses worth applying?

Accredited courses are the ones which are formally recognised by the (NCDT) National Council for Drama Training (RADA, LAMDA, East-15, Central and all the big name schools are registered under them). They're usually held within the highest regard especially in theatre.

Now I could be mistaken in regard to recognised but as I understand it that usually refers to credits. I.E: Working for a well known company or respected director. I wouldn't quote me on that last one though.

This is taken from the Drama UK website:

Accreditation is for vocational conservatoire training courses and has been an industry recognised quality mark since 1976.

Recognition is a new quality mark and has been developed in response to the fact that the drama training landscape has changed significantly in the last 30 years and there are now many more providers in this sector running courses that are less vocational than conservatoire training but offer a very real benefit to the industry. This quality mark is therefore aimed at less vocational university and college courses and was launched in 2012.
