Panto songs
Hiya everyone! I really hope someone can help me. I have got through the final stages in auditioning for the role of Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk. I really need to find a fab song to show off my range, I can belt to an A, but with nerves I'm saying nothing above a G. The hard thing is obviously I am a female and I am auditioning for a boy role, so I want something appropriate - not too girly!
If anyone has been in this position, please can you tell me what you sang. Or if anyone else has any suggestions they would be so appreciated! I've got to perform on Friday and only found out yesterday, but I feel nothing is my portfolio is right.

I think a song about adventuring would be great. I imagine you won't be wanting anything about love for Jack... Maybe something like 'I'm not afraid of anything' from Songs from a new World.
Also, will be be accompanied by piano and if so do you know how good the pianist is? Could affect song choices. And how many bars you'll be expected to do?
I presume youre looking at pop as well as musical theatre? Last Jack I know had to sing "when you believe" in the panto, cheesy, shows off range and has a decent journey to it.

What about 'Go the Distance' from Hercules? It's a boys song but if you have the means to shift it up to your range it can go pretty high, I think. Also fits in with the story of Jack as well.

We did a show and Buttons sang (TAKE THAT's)SHINE...it went down a storm which suprised me...but I saw for the first time what an uplifting and happy song SHINE is!
