Actor

Hi Colin,

I think the North West is a great place for actors - I may not have gotten a big slice of the action (yet *crosses fingers*) but in cities like Liverpool and Manchester there is lots of filming - from regular stuff like Shameless / Hollyoaks to features like Sherlock Holmes and Nowhere Boy. There is also a thriving theatre scene - both professional and community.

I am based in Liverpool, and there is very much a 'community' vibe to the industry (esp. film and TV) - everyone knows each other and I have found those working in the industry tend to be nurturing and helpful and share what info they have.

Also, there are lots of career development opportunities - classes, workshops etc.

This is just my take on life in the North.

Hope it helps - any questions, PM me :) x

I work as a teaching assistant for an agency, as and when I am available. The money isn't amazing, but it gets me by.

And, I'm not going to lie about it, my boyfriend who is the one with the "proper job" helps me out a lot. I know I am lucky - kills me inside to have to rely on my partner, but I couldn't physically do unpaid acting jobs without him.
