Excellent.. now I have to miss out on acting work and cannot get paid.. Wish we had sick pay the same as every other job!
Is there no health coverage for this as actors?

SWINE FLU DOES NOT RXIST.....it's all a con by big government to make us all get us vaccinated. The vaccinations will kill us all off.
3-4,000 people die very year in England of ordinary flu. How many die of fictitious bird, swine flu? 9? 12?

I just read in the paper that the actor in the government swine flu ads (where he sneezes in a lift) ... has got swine flu!
I had just got over Swine flu.
You would know it if you had it!
Like nothing I`ve ever experienced in my life.
Anyhow, having been incapacitated for over 6 weeks, I am quite aware of having missed out on many auditions.
Was actually in a show which I had to bow out of.
The guilt alone!!!
Where is our sick pay?

The actor in the advert has swine flu?...blimey that's taking method acting to silly extremes.
As for the sick pay Rebecca, you're self employed so you'd have to get a health insurance policy to cover you which like most insurances for actors would be very expensive.
Especially as being an actor no one could be absolutely certain if you were actually ill. hehe.

Hope you're soon feeling better all you swine flu sufferers. I know lots of people who've had swine flu and people who have had several other horrible illnesses which haven't hit the papers. All unpleasant and all real!
Yes, get well soon. I'm luckily 'flu-free. Just as well - I've been breaking in some new "lucky audition shoes" this week and the Big Toe Blister I've sustained in the process has been more than flesh can bear!!

Conspiracy theories I wouldn't believe them except that Donald Rumsfeld's con of the Avian Flu a couple of years back was in order to boost sales of his product named - you guessed it - Tamiflu

Most sheep would rather believe what their masters tell them.
They are conditioned to come out with the reflex "conspiracy theories" when someone tries to tell the truth.
Sometimes I think to hell with them, let them get their flu shots, maybe the world will be a better place without them!!
I have had this strain of flu now for over 5 days and have not been vaccinated I have been given tamiflu which is a drug used against varying stains of the flu virus. As this is a virus it isnt a cure but simply stops it getting worse.
Some people have died from this and some people are severely ill as can happen every winter with regular flu.
To say maybe the world will be a better place without them is disgusting.
I do not doubt for one second that this pandemic has been blown out of proportion and that there has been some scare mongering but that was not what this thread was about.I was enquiring about sick pay/ insurance for actors.

it's an Everest to get health insurance for an actor! I'm sure there are ways round it though!!

I was on a ferry going to the Isle of Mull when the landing was being shown on the TV and some old guy said 'Ach, they're no on the moon - they're doon a gully' :-))
