I'm originally from Wales and have worked for a few Welsh companies. I know it can be difficult to be seen unless you're Welsh or are based in Wales, the Sherman Theatre Company tend to use only Welsh actors for their in-house productions. The Torch Theatre in Milford Haven advertise nationally for their productions and the artistic director there is Peter Doran.
Gary Howe is now freelance and casts TV and commercials.

Oh, Alex. Its not arid, its just a bit of a closed shop. It the same as anywhere else, you have to be in it to win it. Elinor, as a welsh speaker you should have no problems working but you do need to get a foot in the door. BBC Wales website will tell you most of the casting directors for the main shows (Pobol Y Cwm etc), write to them and stress the language thing. There are also three Dr Who programmes and spin offs being filmed at the moment and they're not all cast yet by any means. Stage wise you have Torch and Wales Theatre Company. There's also Kate Crowther, who now deals with all casting for Theatr Clwyd Cymru.
