When you see a job listed and the breakdown contains some of the most atrocious spelling you've ever seen, does it make you more likely to ignore the job or do you give it a go?
Sometimes I think, they can't be all that professional if they can't spell professional!
Not being funny or anything but what I see alot of in these forums is that alot of us moan about certain things in the profession of acting that irritate us in this Industry, but one never actulaly does anything about it!!.
Now ill be honest I really dont think its really such a big deal if someone may have miss spelt or has gramatical errors in a job post =
(but hay thats me, im just thankfull that someone out there is creating a possible oppertunity for an actor to work!).
But for those of you that find it that irritating (and one or to of you have been quite passionate about how much it torments you) Then may I ask... why dont you email the company that puts these post up and let them know this !!!!.
Let them know that your put off by the job because the spelling in there job description ect is inncorect!!.
Now again I also dont thing these errors are intentional (why would there be) but Leigh put at the end of her post that its not professional (in her very valid opinion),.
Are you going to do something about it Leigh??
Keep me informed-
but I mean of course for those who dont apply for those jobs with these errors ect its cool, only another few thousand actors graduating this/next year.
Have a nice weekend
Colin

(Sasha I do get the post its another actors moan cus thats what we do somtimes)

You can't email people who post on CCP - if you put anything other than an application on your response, it will not be sent and you will be requested not to do so again.
I think that in writing a breakdown, you need to be clear and concise over your requirements, and if you haven't the time to spell-check, then you obviously haven't had the time to write something concise anyway, thus a potentially unorganised project before even being cast.
Does that make sense? - i was preoccupied with getting da spelling rite :-)
Also, Colin, i think in this case moaning can be quite therapeutic, besides, what else can we do about it, except quit and become English teachers!
Si
P.s - Actually double checked the spelling of "therapeutic."
Having read through the thread, and apart from those purposely mis-spelling,
I find three innocently guilty, of the very thing we are talking about.
Lee , Sasha, Colin and , no doubt on other threads, my goodself. It's ironic.
But Allan, that's because posting in the forum is a bit like chatting so sometimes in the rush to get thoughts down, grammar and syntax, as well as spelling and punctuation, go out of the window, the same as in speech when we're fired up or having a laugh. But when applying for a job, you (as in all of us) would be more careful in order to create a better first impression. I do tend to check over my spelling etc no matter what but that's because I spent years studying and then proofing text so it sort of comes naturally anyway.
Hi Allen
your clearly not understanding the points im making in the post I am saying that its not such a big deal with gramatical erros, Please read my posts again
xx
I am sure I replied to this thread...but it never went through?
If my agent started to ignore the casting requests which contained bad spelling (and I refer to "some" of the countries leading casting directors and production Co's) I think I'd leave her with immediate effect!
Prior to you all getting quite so furious, angry and mad, with the likes of Colin, who like me, is perhaps a bad speller; one needs to maybe think about a touch of smugness creeping into this thread. ...and I do beedin 'ate smugness!
Perhaps I am being over sensitive because I never learned to spell properly at school.....I just rely on the wonderment of spell checkers!!
As a leveler perhaps:
2 years ago, my oncologist stated in a letter to me: I had "agressave Prostaite" cancer! Even I noticed the spelling errors. However he and his team, gave me the best Nat Health hospital treatment and ongoing observation I could have ever hoped for, and I shall be ever thankful I overlooked his spelling errors accordingly!
Have a great weekend fokes...folkes ...Ummm..everyone!
Thank you Mark. The last time a Doctor pulled on his rubber gloves for me, I ended up walking like a penguin for a bloody week ... never again !!!.
Keep healthy Old Son.
Hi Sasha ... forego (forgo). As Lee and I think Toni, pointed out, because the page times out, we have a tendency to type mucho rapido ... hence errors will occur due to speed. Also, in trying to answer the previous note before someone else intervenes and spoils the reply.
