On Set Tensions

Hello my fellow actors hope were all well?

I just wanted to share something with you that happened on one of my recent films I did.
There we were the Actors doing our stuff and the director (now we had been filming by about 6 hours at this point) started to scream at one of the actors on set saying your a F****** waste of my time get the f******* scene right, the director had been nitpicking all day could do with the pressure they were under or that there was delays the last two days of filming.
Me being me started to stand up for the other actor and started shouting back saying give the guy a break we all working hard etc.
so for the next 10 mins a war of words insued.
After that was done the rest of the shoot was in total silence.
after we had finished the actor came up to me and thanked me.
Now I understand things were behind and we all get frustrated now and again, but I thought the other actor getting spoke to like that was beyond the pale.
I'm sure some of you might work with me in the future I'm not a fire brand dont' worry :) I'm a nice guy
I just felt that that was out of order.

I just wanted to know if anybody had any other tales of 'Blade Runner' on set tensions throughout their careers so far?

Or is it just me? ha ha

Good for you, I'd be more than happy to have a supportive actor like yourself working with me :)

Some people will do anything, even ignore appalling behaviour, to protect their 'image'.

Best of luck on future projects!

Anything worth being said can be spoken at regular volume. I certainly wouldn't stand for it if someone shouted at me or vice versa. I've only experienced EDS (explosive director syndrome) once and although differences should have been sorted in private rather than on set, the way the actor/actress had been behaving was nothing short of criminal.

Expose this ****hole!!

These people give the industry a bad name. The fact that he refuses to acknowledge he is in the wrong, and only communicates, to his employees, through another person, shows his lack of professionalism and disregard for the cast and crew on this shoot. You should private pm everyone his name, so other artist don't have the misfortune of working with him again. Private message everyone on this thread, or report him to equity.

Remember the knife cuts both ways!!

Good luck in all you do.

Jon

It's an interesting thread title - and many of us have tales to tell - but only one of us witnessed this specific incident.

Ignoring the rights and wrongs - 99% of the time it will be the actor that's fired (unless the actor is also the producer).

Tony you are in the right - If it was an Equity contract please let Equity know the Production company name and get them black listed and an official complaint made.
Believe it or not they (and particularly the gutless Producer!) have a responsibility to ensure that bullying in the work place (On set) doesn't happen.

Best anyway Mate!

Hi all,

I can understand this situation completely. I was reaptedly harassed and verbally abused by a previous director who would call me late in the evening to explain how "I was getting fantastic reviews but he never liked me and thinks I was a bit of a c**t he went on to swear repeatedly at me for ten mins. He was shocked when I got my agent involved.

About 3months later this kind of behaviour happened again and I left the tour (I gave a weeks notice) Since en I have sought the support of Equity (who have been phemoninal)

It is so reassuring however to hear how other actors can stand up for each other.
