If I was in a big-budget film, I would love my billing to be: AND Alan Wales as Davros.
Or a screenplay credit for a filmed Shakespeare that has: ADDITIONAL DIALOGUE BY ALAN WALES.
The effrontery!!
Satine in a stage version of 'Moulin Rouge'...and a good, dramatic, meaty role that gets me a little, gold, bald man...you know, something where i die...or i'm on death row...a cheery, summer afternoon kind of flick! :)
Oooh, we're off on a roll, aren't we? Some really interesting suggestions - I hope some casting directors, producers and movie moguls are reading this & gissa chance! nadia ;-)
The Doctor in that programme on BBC1 about time travel and aliens starring David Tennant and previously many other great actors, forgotten what it's called now, but I believe I should be one of the future incarnations, and if I'm not, well then I guess I'll have to eat my own head!!
Yes ...would definitely love to give you a run for your money for Satine in Moulin Rouge oscardarling. Although...I could quite happily play the bitchy one too (would have to brush up MAJORLY on my tango tho! lol)
I'd like to play someone really evil...I always end up as a romantic lead. And I love it, but I'd like to try being the baddie.
Great thread...xx
My ambitions have changed- I did at one point have such as desire to play the PHANTOM in POTO that I would prostitute myself on a block on stone at four in the morning in a graveyard- but the moment passed....
I would love to do it, and shows like Les mis etc- but I find that its about doing work that communicates to the audience something about real life- through straight plays, musicals, radio etc- if its about the art of performance then its worth doing-
I am rehearsing a new plkay at the mo, and i have really enjoyed the xperimentation of it. Shakespeare has also been reinvigorated for me and i love the idea of being able to communicate huge life processes such as life, death, grief, pain, anger, unforgiveness, joy, etc through the spoken word.
For me, this is why I became an actor- because I think its about humanity...it recently became soured through my experiences the begining of this year , and I seem to be reclaiming the joy of why i became an actor- but from a place that is deeper and more organic for me.... not just "lets put on a show".
Thats a very intense reply, but the simple answer is now- whatever is right at the time that I want to do.The world will nt end if I do not play the phantom- I once thought it would....
Also, at the moment, something that would pay off my existing loan, the loan I'm going to have to get out to pay for the new roof, and to pay off my mortgage. One good commercial would do that - well, maybe that's a bit of a pipe dream these days :-))
I would like to play Richard III as I believe he has been badly misunderstood all these years.
But, in fact, I'd really like to play him because it's one play when the supporting character(TM) gets to take over the show!
This is regardless of the fact that I have already played him once (it was agreed to be inevitable), just not in front of anybody very important (SOB!).
[This did not have the hallmarks of a very sensible answer].
I would also like to play a Victorian lowlife character in a Dickens adaptation for the BBC, and possibly keep the hat.
Well, I've played this role three times in Australia, but it is still one of my biggest dreams to play Amos Hart on the West End.
Either that or be a character on Star Trek. Hmm.
Well, I've fulfilled all my ambitions as far as musicals go, so I'd like to do TV.
I'd like to play a corrupt lawyer who has to get more and more cold-hearted and dark as she gets in deeper and deeper, yet meanwhile has an ordinary family about her, and a love rival; the ruining of the love-rival's life is the point when the work evil crosses over into personal evil.
Love the idea of duplicity and layers and gradual change.
Musical - 'Charity' in Sweet Charity.
Theatre - Anything written by Alan Aykbourn, John Godber, Caroll Churchill the list goes on and on...
TV - I would love to be a part of a drama, a real gritty role, something that challenges my emotional capability and versatility. I love Paul Abbotts writing e.g Shameless etc..
Film - My dream would be to work with Mike Leigh, wouldn't that be amazing!
would love to play mark anthony in julius ceasar and i would walk to the end of the earth and back to share any screen time with ed norton...or christian bale im not fussy
Me again, sorry, I'd love to work with Tim Burton and Edgar Wright. Anything at all Simon Pegg related would mean I'd die a happy bunny. Not that I'm suggesting he'D kill me. You know what I mean.
