Generally what I'd expect is a Photographer who doesn't just instantly go for the golden shot. Idealistically a good photographer will spent a little while getting to know you and what kind of character you have and try to bring it out in the best possible way so you get a couple of great headshots.

As for the Charge it really depends on what kind of Photo Shoot it is the ones where they take just a ton of candid shots in a hurry quite a lot of the time aren't too helpful.

I'd expect someone who talks to me about the kind of acting I'm interested in and makes me feel comfortable and relaxed and gives me plenty of variation with things like lighting and facial expressions to chose from.

And the charge, I'd say it depends upon things such as the time included in the shoot and the standred of the photographer

The photo is just YOU...so that casting get no surprises whatsoever if you attend an audition. I find it incredible how many actors I meet who look nothing like the pic in real life...and I know that pisses off agents and casters alike!

I agree 100% with Mark. A good photographer will know that the headshots will be used to get you seen by casting directors and that it's essential they look like you and not a glamourised version of you. The photographer should be able to show you off in a range of roles that suit your casting, e.g. council-estate mum, office worker, friendly nurse, or whatever. The photographer needs to show you across your age range too -- if your Spotlight page shows your playing age as 16-20 there's no point having only photos that make you look 35.
