Bring Back Application viewed Feature

Diane Ellis
Actor

Having had a bit of a break during Covid I've now started applying for jobs again but it seems I can no longer see if my application has been viewed or if I'm under consideration.
This was a great feature as I could tell that my application had definitely been seen by the person casting.
Why has it gone and what are the plans for bringing it back?

According to the people who now 'run' (I use the term lightly) the site, it's because they are putting in place an all singing, all dancing, amazingly wonderful platform for actors. This is a long time coming and hasn't manifested yet. They took away the application viewed feature to make way for a better one - that's what they say but they never explain what the better feature will be. If you email them, you get the stock response with the cringeworthy opening statement: "thank you for reaching out" I'm not reaching out - I'm complaining or asking for an explanation. The explanation always starts with "we're working with a very old platform which causes difficulties." Backstage, who now run Mandy is a huge American conglomerate that seems to be eating up a lot of casting sites. Sorry for the rant but this site has reached such depths of mismanagement and incompetence, I don't think it will be possible to resurrect it.

I have been clinging on with the hope that this will resolved sooner rather than later but like you say it seems to be dragging on. There is really no point if you can`t see if you have been viewed or are under consideration.

Why has Mandy messed up my default pic. I keep on editing back to the correct one and then Mandy is setting another one as my default. Is anyone else having the save issue? Thank you

I haven't had that problem Ioannis but, there's still time for them to mess mine up. It really is becoming a joke.

Thank you @Toni, I sorted it out by deleting that faulty picture meaning I ended up with an application I had sent 10 mins ago that thank god still has the audition self tape but the headshot (the faulty pic) is missing .. what a mess

Was it the fault of the pic or the site? Glad the self-tape has gone through.

Regarding the "Application Viewed" feature - this should most definitely be brought back. After all, WE are the ones who pay to be on this site - surely we should have a say as to what features it has?
After the "viewed/under consideration" comment to the right of the application disappeared, there was a comment right at the bottom of our application, but even that is gone now - it's just "Application Status -". I despair.
Mandy - please reinstate this feature!! Thank you.

Sue - we certainly SHOULD have a say in the features we pay for! Also the 'Report this job' button (I'm regularly seeing unpaid jobs in my feed). It also grates that they vet the posts here and don't allow anything critical of Mandy, supposedly because they allow employers to read these forums!

I have complained endlessly to them about the missing "Who has viewed your application" and "who has viewed your site". All I get is they are upgrading the old platform to a new one. They cannot tell me how long this will take. To be honest, if it isn't fixed by the time my current subscription expires, I will not be renewing it! They are dreadful to deal with. There used to be a phone number to ring and speak to someone. Now you have to email them and ask for someone to ring you. I think everyone should leave Mandy. That would be the only language that they would understand.

I've just messaged Mandy about it and, apparently, I will hear back from them within one working day.
I won't hold my breath.

I honestly think it's being deliberately run down by Backstage who can then fully integrate it into their money-orientated - only for profit, only for greed - corporate organisation with lord know what costs to actors.

Sue, it takes them that long to find the appropriate stock answer and by the time they've done that, they will have lost your email.

Just realized the disclaimer on the bottom of this page says they don’t vet posts - when they clearly do!

And it looks like one of my posts on this page has been removed (I was saying I’d become an unarmed ‘Private User’), although I never changed that setting.

You said that on the Unpaid Offer thread, not this one, and it's still there. :-) Mandy admin is utter garbage, though, I don't disagree.

I have not yet regretted stopping being a paid member in November.

I got an email from Backstage telling me I could use their site to get all the crew and actors I need for my productions. I'm an actress and have never, ever put myself forward for a crew job, and have never, ever put myself on the crew pages with Mandy. What a joke these people are!

I sent this to Mandy in 2022. I'm still waiting for a reply!!! - Dear Sir,
Mandy Website Changes:

In regard to recent changes to the Mandy website, in particular in relation to premium members/paying subscribers who as of 13th September 2022 can no longer see who is viewing, and indeed re-viewing their profile in general, or in relation to a particular role that has been applied for.

This facility is, in my opinion, crucial for working actors as we set diary-dates ahead, even for those productions that we haven’t yet been cast for! (potential pencil) and not being able to see who is looking at us, and indeed how often, completely dilutes and unequivocally diminishes our ability to prepare and indeed follow up with prospective employers.

We as actors need to know what information has been seen, i.e. has a prospective employer merely glanced at our profile picture in passing, or have they opened our profile, watched our reels, and engaged in our acting history and credentials?

I simply cannot understand the reasoning in withdrawing this profile facility, I can assure you that it certainly wasn’t anything that was suggested by a working actor!

If the withdrawal of this facility relates to anything in relation to the infrastructure vis-à-vis the operational framework core of the site then the attention should be drawn to upgrading not withdrawing facilities from actors/paying subscribers who are already undoubtedly struggling?

I agree. In these days of technology what is the problem with giving as much information as possible so it is easily accessible to our fingertips?
