I'd like to know about that too...

I think it should just contain your base details (name, age, part you wish to apply for, etc), though I'm not completely sure.

I always thought that this was the opportunity to sell yourself. Include why you think they should use you, and a bit about yourself.

Only you can judge how formal or informal it needs to be, and I think its a good idea to make your covering letter specific to whatever the job is your applying for!

Hi I have got a question if anyone point me to the right direction. I have submitted my Covering Letter for one of the job but there is no option there how to apply for a job. So is that mean that i need to provide only a covering letter and if they have to choose me for a job they will contact me?

Hello I'm new here but....... I understand a cover letter should be relevant to the post you are applying for. First paragraph should be short and to the point. You need to make an impact. State why you are the best person for the job ie a few key skills and experience. All the best.

I've concluded that it's impossible to say because of the diversity of roles and employers. My understanding from conversations with casting agents is that they generally have a look they're after, so they scan the photos for people who fit. Then they shortlist and quickly scan the experience. The final list gets to audition. However, this process is not necessarily the same for all jobs. Choosing someone to host a quiz is a completely different process from choosing someone for a coffee ad. My advice would be to include anything unusual that makes you ideal for a position - eg experience with lions for a lion tamer role. Anything generic will probably be ignored.
