Who is actually landing jobs?
Hey Guys,
Genuine question, who here is redularly landing work through Mandy.com?
Since the update my conversion rate has plummeted.
At times I am not convinced my applications aren't seen.
Anyone else experiencing similar?
With a bit of luck I do get some work. However this site is becoming more of a mystery to me. I have just posted about the 'exciting' synced profiles, so let's see if this turns up on the forum.
I think I see about 1 thing per month even worth applying to.
mandy is now awful and they took £156 out of my account without permission and noone calls me about it. I dont get half the jobs i used to get, what on earth has happened and yes I thing casting directors have gone elsewhere but where??
Hi Gilda
Try applying o castingcallback.com. It's new but there have been a few jobs on there already and they look to be getting better. I think CDs are using Spotlight more now - there have been a few more student productions listed too - paid ones - that I've noticed. I really think Mandy is on the way out at a viable entity.
I'm here, like they say, 'Just for the Ratio' now.
I ended my subscription to Mandy Actors and Mandy Voiceover Artists (Casting Call Pro, and Voices Pro - funny how it all went wrong when they dropped the 'pro') mid-way through last year.
The casting calls, which used to be several decent ones (per day) are now a few dross ones, per week.
It's become a 'service' (if one can still really call it that) that isn't even a shadow of its former self - either pre-Backstage Mandy, Casting Call Pro, or Mandy before it took over Casting Call Pro.
They really are taking money under false pretences now.
It is my firm belief that Backstage bought Mandy to close it down and wipe out the opposition for Backstage itself and StarNow - it certainly looks that way.
April 2022 was the last time this site was anyway near decent.
I agree with everything it's not what it was. I've cancelled mine too. Good luck every one.
Have cancelled mine too. Would be interesting to hear how many 'remainers' there are.
I find it frustrating that we have to pay to be able to find work, that’s not even guaranteed work and not necessarily well paid either!! Hence castingcallback is now looking a better option. No other industry I know of has to pay to apply for a job..you can apply on LinkedIn for example for free!
I have cancelled also.
Backstage has ruined any opportunities there used to be.
I've just joined castingcallback.com so I'll wait and see.
I just got an email from a second year BA student who didn't give their name, saying I would be right for their film and to contact them if interested. I told them I would be interested in knowing more about the character, the plot and the fee they're offering. I bet it's unpaid in which case I will decline. Aren't these jobs vetted any more?
Yes, I have noticed quite a few 'jobs' offering £50 flat fee!!
I had an email from another student the other day Rachel and that was unpaid!
I've just had an email regarding a job from UCL no mention of money!
I bet it's the same person - no name just

Hi Toni
Yes it's the same one!
Toni and Jennie - I got exactly the same one, asked about a fee and strangely enough - no reply.
So discourteous.
Sue
They really are chancers Sue. I think I might get in touch with the school to point out that, if their students are asking professionals to work for nothing, then perhaps they ought to look at what they’re teaching their students about budgeting.
Hi everyone, I think it is worth compiling all the links to jobs with low no rate.
Backstage is doing nothing to support us.
It should be taken to Bectu and equity
