Each study will include 200 autistic young people across 13 countries.The design is a 4-week run-in, and randomization to bumetanide or placebo for 6 months. Then all patients receive open-label bumetanide for 6 months with 6 weeks follow-up after treatment has stopped.The primary endpoint is change in CARS-2, a scale recommended by the European Medical Agency, after 6 months.
