Please carefully read the project and role details and only apply if you fit the brief.We are currently looking for a male Audiobook Narrator for a historical action/adventure novel set in Saxony in the 770s, during the Saxon/Viking resistance of Charlemagne and the imposition of Christianity. The book is the first in a series entitled 'Fire Born'.The narrative is divided between two principal characters' POV:Bjarki Bloodhand (the protagonist) is an early 20s, gruff voiced, brutish-but-likeable fisherman's son who begins his story sparred from execution before embarking on a quest to become a "Rekkr", or 'Berserker' - a warrior with the ability to summon the "gandr" spirit of a fierce beast.Tor Hildarsdottir is also in her early 20s and starts the story already as a fully fledged and experienced warrior - herself, the daughter of a legendary "Rekkr". She is the sharp-witted companion to Bjarki's lumbering nativity and the pair's developing camaraderie becomes core to the heart of the book.In addition to action/adventure and blood and guts battles the novel places great emphasis on Pagan/Saxon religiosity and takes great care to portray the spirituality of this ancient faith, in opposition to in invading Christianity.The novel has 127,000 words.We will consider applicants based on their previous audiobook experience and voice/demo reels before inviting a shortlist to audition with a portion of the book. Shortlisted auditionees will then be considered by our publisher client. Please note that due to the ongoing pandemic, the successful candidate must be able to remotely record themselves to a high standard from their location. Editing and mastering will not be required by the narrator. Please do not apply if you do not have the equipment and facility to do this.The rate will be £70 per finished hour of the final, completed audiobook .
