It seems we can’t get enough of shows about outrageously rich, beautiful people doing terrible things in glamorous locations. Towing this popular premise is Prime Video’s new psychological thriller series Malice, starring David Duchovny, Carice van Houten, and Jack Whitehall. The show, which is set in London and Greece, has a UK-based creative team headed by writer James Wood (Rev, The Great). Here’s what we know so far.

Duchovny and Van Houten play the heads of a super rich family whose lives are upended with the arrival of a young Brit played by Whitehall. He’s hired as a nanny, but when he joins them on holiday in Greece, it’s clear all is not what it seems. Are there darker, more sinister motives at play?
Viewers have six episodes to get to the bottom of it all. Tara Erer, head of Amazon Originals for the UK and Europe, promises “twists and turns that will have our customers on the edge of their seats.” Filming wrapped in July 2024 and the series’ release is expected sometime before the end of the year.

The casting director on Malice is London-based Amy Hubbard, who also cast Apple TV’s Hijack and Prime Video’s The Outlaws. Heidi Lawry is the casting associate.
Hubbard told Spotlight what she looks for in an audition: “Confidence is key. Confidence, for me, comes above talent.” That means dressing appropriately in comfortable clothing, keeping eye contact, and being well prepared.
When it comes to your performance, her advice is simple. “Make a bold decision about how you want to play it. Don’t be afraid to be creative – and unique! You need to trust your instincts on how you interpret the character you’re auditioning for and how the lines should be delivered,” she says. “Don’t be trying to predict, ‘What does this person want?’ It may be that your fresh and different delivery makes the casting director view the character in a new light. At the very least, it will make you memorable to them – which is just as much a victory as getting the role.”

Filming wrapped on Malice in summer 2024, but another season may well be commissioned if audiences love the show. Keep an eye on our casting pages and have your CV, headshots, and showreel good to go just in case.
