About me
I have had a love of the recorder and early music for as long as I can remember. After pausing to bring up a family I am now back working as a full time performer and workshop leader. My particular interest is in the dance music of the 16th Century, but this has expanded out to creating many kinds of first person characters both historical and otherwise, developing my characterisation and improvisation skills along the way. Some people call me a Tudor jukebox, with a couple of hours worth of music and dance steps in my head, and period instruments to play it on. Recent work has included schools workshops in tudor life, music and dance; Harlequin Fayre providing walkabout musical entertainment for the children’s area; musical dryad character for Hallowsgate halfterm activities at Kentwell Hall; music, dance and interludes for a Tudor themed 60th birthday; musical advisor to Red Rose Chain theatre for Put Out The Lights; bespoke character actor for the Unfairground at Scaresville in Suffolk.Additional skills:
Historical dance, storytelling, interlude performance, first person characterisation, horse riding, historical research, event planning, music arranging.
Additional information:
I play on Tudor period instruments including:
Recorders
Rauschpfeife
Hurdy Gurdy
Pipe and Tabor
I can provide my own accurate historical clothing for late medieval (low class) and Tudor (low class and middle class) periods.
