  • About me

Woodwind specialist (saxophone, clarinet & flute) and composer/educator, Jon Shenoy is regarded as a creative spirit, regularly leading and performing in a wide range of ensembles across the UK. Somewhat a stylistic chameleon, he balances a prolific contribution as a talented improvisor in London’s contemporary jazz scene, performing in the Ivo Neame Octet, Rory Simmons’ Fringe Magnetic, Arthur Lea’s Bootleg Brass, & his own hammond organ quartet, Draw By Four, with a stylistic awareness of pastiche and sensitivity in the likes of Claire Martin’s Hollywood Romance, the BBC Big Band, and his own King Candy & The Sugar Push. Recent concerts include the North Sea Jazz Festival and repeated sell-out shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. He regularly performs in London’s West End musicals, having most recently held woodwind chairs in Dream Girls and 9 to 5.

    Additional Skills

Jon has always held music education in the highest regard considering it an equal and necessary partner to a tandem career in performance. Since taking professional development workshops with respected educator and creative learning specialist, Sean Gregory at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Jon’s passion for the broad scope that music education can offer is revealed in his significant experience both as a peripatetic instrumental tutor and as an animateur.

He has run student ensembles and led workshops in a large range of collaborative projects, often in connection with his own performances, seeking to increase the audience participatory experience and explore the inclusive music making possibilities on regional tours.
