Howard Sandom

Through my school and college years I was a keen AmDram participant {lead male in The Mikado at age 13) and went on to career in Advertising and PR where i honed my presentational skills. I was BTs National Advertising Manager for 7 years working with Maureen Lipman on the "Beattie" series of TV Commercials for J Walter Thompson, the leading Ad Agency. In the early 2000's I was the UK Telecom Industry's principal Media spokesperson for the Mobile Phone (07) Code change appearing on National TV and Radio involving extensive TV/Radio interviews for which i was Media trained. Lately I have been doing face-to-face interviewing for Ipsos Mori - the UK's largest Market Research company. Having spent much of my career on film sets and being in front of a camera I would like to explore my potential as a film/TV extra which my good friend Doreen Jacob has successfully achieved

Very musical with broad range of tastes - played Guitar/backing singer in 60's band (including some TV appearances)

I am also Chairman of the Seal Petanque Club in Sevenoaks

The National Code Change in the early 2000s involved interviews on all the major UK National and Regional TV stations - on the Code Change weekend i did some 30 TV and 50 radio interviews!

In the 60s our band "The Soundsations" had a minor Hit record involving appearances on Thank your Lucky Stars , Ready Steady Go! and several regional TV stations

At Eastbourne College I had lead male role in The Mikado, and support parts in The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, Androcles and the Lion

I am a good Communicator and enjoy interaction with people

I am a regular Golfer

I am Chairman and regular player at Seal Petanque Club (one of the UKs leading Clubs) We play in France, Belgium and I have represented Kent on several occasions in National and International competitions

Getting a minor "Hit" record - playing with David Bowie, Peter Frampton and other notable Rock stars was "interesting" and touring the UK in the early 60s was an experience I wouldn't have missed for the world!

Being head-hunted for the BT Advertising top job was daunting and then finding and owning their most famous Ad Campaign "You got an 'Ology etc" which won all the Awards was a Career best for me

None to speak of though I am very Rythmic

Lead treble in School Choir (Eastbourne College)

Sang solo in Canterbury Cathedral (age 12) at schools festival

Formed the first ever Rock n' Roll band at school

Spent 7 years after school touring UK as Lead Guitar/Harmony Singer and made record for Decca which had low-end chart success Although not singing much these days I can hold a note and sing in tune

4 grandchildren (aged from 8 to 18)

Held clean Driving Licence for over 30 years
