Mandy's Surgery Session: BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated DoP Barry Ackroyd

To support our members during these unprecedented times, we continue to provide our talented community with useful professional resources. Together, we can make the most of this challenging time! We have launched Mandy’s Surgery Sessions as an opportunity for our community to gain valuable insights and advice from leading figures in the industry. 

We are delighted to announce that BAFTA winning and Academy Award nominated Cinematographer Barry Ackroyd (The Hurt Locker, Bombshell, The Big Short) will be doing a series of one-on-one sessions with several Mandy members on Wednesday 22nd July! This session is the perfect opportunity for emerging and established Film & TV Crew to get advice and feedback on their projects and CV, as well as understanding the ins and outs of the industry from one of the greats!

Barry Ackroyd is an award winning cinematographer and has worked with some of the industry’s top directors, including Ken Loach, Paul Greengrass and Kathryn Bigelow. He worked on 2008’s The Hurt Locker, for which he won a BAFTA Award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography. In 2014, Ackroyd became the president of the British Society of Cinematographers. Other notable films he has worked on include Bombshell, The Big Short and more.

When: Wednesday 22nd July. Members will have a 20 minute slot between 15.00 - 18.00 BST.

Where: Zoom. The invite will be emailed to members that are successful.

Mandy Surgery sessions are run exclusively for Premium Members and applicants will be entered into a raffle to be selected. To be in with the chance of having a one-on-one session with Barry Ackroyd, all you have to do is answer the question below! Hurry, we will be closing the draw on Thursday 16th July at 15:00 BST. We will then contact the lucky winners on Friday 17th July.
