About me
After finishing my MA in Performance Practice, I completed a BTEC Award in Education and Training and am keen to teach in the Performing Arts area. My interest in working with children and young people has been enhanced by my experience in theatre and performance workshops and I am very enthusiastic about the possibility of working in theatre.I have a keen interest in drama education having taken and participated in children’s drama workshops at the King’s Theatre, Southsea, and as part of a University touring company, I visited schools both in the UK and abroad, engaging with young people in practical settings as well as in performance, helping to develop their knowledge and experience of theatre. This experience included support and initiatives in drama contexts for those with learning and physical disabilities. I have also led workshops and devised activities with undergraduates, returning to University to assist in directing and supporting BA Theatre and Performance projects leading to final performance.
My acting experience has included professional work in film and theatre, and there was a strong focus on practical devising and improvisation work in my University degrees. My strengths lie particularly in physical theatre, improvisation, movement and clowning, sometimes incorporating music, dance and rhythm in projects. I have knowledge, skills and practical application of all aspects of theatre production and would be adaptable to whatever might be required in relation to Drama theory and practice.
I have considerable experience in working with and supporting young people in other contexts, for instance as a Student Guide and in Student Support Services, as well as in Sports and Leisure settings. I am also used to interacting with pre-school and primary school children, devising educational games and other activities.
My availability is very flexible and I would be happy to work whenever required, including school holidays. I am highly motivated, enthused by my experiences, education and training to teach, mentor and facilitate learning and activity in the Performance Arts. It would be most rewarding to encourage and foster the imaginative responses and initiatives of children and young people that the opportunity of working in the theatre would give.
I have a DBS/CRB check valid.
