About me
I am soon to be graduating from my three year course at London South Bank University, Drama and Performance Studies. The course itself has introduced me to many aspects of theatre, and a variety of methods and routes into creating and performing theatre. Within the course I have studied the Stanislavski method, writing and the self, experimental theatre, physical theatre (Working closely with Frantic Assembly), Collaborative devising, theatre technology, Management and Ethics, Practice of Adaptation and collaborative production (ending with a performance of Brechts "The Good Soul of Szechuan" Directed by Jon Lee, Artistic Director of Dirty Market theatre company) and am currently working on my final Major Performance Project, incorporating as much as I can from what I have learnt over the three years, whilst writing my dissertation. Throughout my time at university I have also been involved with many other projects, in my first year I wrote and Directed a play that was put on for one night at The White Bear theatre in Kennington, and also performed for a third year student in an adaptation of who's afraid of Virginia Wolf. I also took over presidency of The Drama Society which I helped to found, and directed a production of Little Shop of horrors, and it was this year that we won the universities society of the year award. Shortly after this I Directed a New piece of writing at Tara Arts Theatre. Over the following Summer I worked as a technical assistant for Dirty Market theatre company's production of Oxbow Lakes, and was responsible for all the sound and lighting of the show which took place in a warehouse that was converted for the performance. As part of my collaborative devised project, we explored the work of Grotowski, and created a piece based upon the myth of Prometheus. Whilst at University as well as my course duties and external interests in theatre, I have become heavily involved in the Student Union and set up and ran a weekly a Open Mic event on Monday's being responsible for the marketing, booking acts, the set up, sound and running of the event, and am also a member of the society executive committee, responsible for communicating with heads of other societies and the Student union to make the running and establishing of societies a better experience. Before coming to University I studied a one year acting diploma, at Level three. We explored various means of performing, including butoh, mime, stanislavski and devising. I was also involved with a theatre company called Sanctuary, a small group, performing locally, to south Wales.Additional skills:
I am a percussionist, having recently picked up the Cajon, and have some piano playing experience, am currently learning the Bass guitar. I practised Judo for many years at one point winning the junior open Welsh Championship, and played rugby through school, and on until I was nineteen for a local club.
