About me
I’m a passionate and experienced costume designer and maker originally from Basel in Switzerland, now based in the UK.I trained as a dressmaker with an addition in costume, and then went on to get a MA in couture Dressmaking and Fashion Design in Zurich and a further MA in Scenography at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
After working as a high end dressmaker, designer and fashion teacher for several years, gaining valuable and diverse knowledge and skills, I went on to work in theatre.
My experience working in theatre in Switzerland I acquired working as a costume maker and assistant designer at Theater Basel for four years, the city’s premier location for local and international theatre, opera, and contemporary ballet performances,
Also during that time I was working as a freelance designer and costume maker for the Gay Beggars Theatre company at Basel University.
Alongside my employed work I have always strived to find interesting and challenging projects to learn and grow in what I am doing. I have designed and made a variety of costumes for themed events and performances such as medieval and renaissance fairs in Switzerland and parts of Germany, different 20th century costumes, fairy-tale and fantasy costumes and costumes for the famous Basel Carnival.
I have also organised fashion shows and themed events and i have worked as costume supervisor and workroom coordinator in theatre and fashion.
Since coming to the UK I have been working with colleges, smaller theatre companies and Edinburgh Fringe productions.
As a Swiss national, I am multilingual and can speak and read fluently in German, English and sufficient in French.
