About me
My main interest is design and after working on the Television Workshop production of 'Our House', I have gone on to design for other companies, such as Junk Shop Theatre and Organised Chaos Productions.I am very passionate about what I do and see myself as an illustrator to writers and their scripts. I enjoy planning and working collaboratively with directors to produce a flowing, attention-grabbing performance.
I have also discovered a passion for workshops. I really enjoy designing and making theatre with, and for, young people. I like working 'hands-on' and am very keen to learn new skills. I am gradually learning more about scenic painting, which is of great interest to me, as I come from a fair-ground art background and really enjoy this part of the creation of theatre.
Additional skills:
While working for as a Merlin Magic Maker for Merlin Entertainment, I have considerably enhanced my prop making skillset by learning fibreglass laminating, panelling and model making. I have also gained experience in working from fibreglass models. These are all attributes which improve my understanding of props and which I believe will ultimately help me become a better designer.
The work at Merlin has also strengthened my teamwork ethic, as due to the scale of the props being created, it is very rare for a prop maker to operate alone and the success of the
team is dependent on the ability of all its members to work well together. I am very proud to have worked on the Blackpool, York and New London Dungeon, The Swarm (Thorpe Park), Ice Age 4D Experience, Nemesis Sub Terra & Cbeebies Land (Alton Towers), Shrek's Adventure in London & the newest attraction to be open at Thorpe Park, Derren Brown's Ghost Train!
I have worked alot in the Lego Workshop making LEGO mini figures for attractions in the UK, as well as worldwide such as, Florida, Dubai & Japan.
I have also Assistant as Workshop Leader along side Helen Fownes-Davies over Nottinghamshire, best know workshop being The Lakeside Theatre summer project 'Create a Play in a Week' which I assisted with in 2009 and 2010.
