Hi Cat

Your site is really great. It's nice that it doesn't contain too much information (unlike mine - which you can also access via my profile)

Wix is great though, isn't it? It really gives you that opportunity to have a really beautiful and smooth 'flash' site, without needing to pay out tons of money to get one built - and you can update these yourself too!

Only thing I would say is, purchase your own domain, for example www[dot]canvandort[dot]com or similar. It will just look a bit better putting out, instead of 'www[dot]dix[dot]com[slash]catcandort[slash]welcome'

That's all i'd have to say :-)

Also, sorry, last one now... Once you've got your own domain, you can then embed the code from wix.com into a simple plain html page, and it will automatically source your site from the wix server (even if you've updated it, it will automatically change). Hope this makes sense. If not, you can drop me a message some time and I'll try talk you through it

Thanks Clive! Yes, wix and moonfruit and the like are great and easy to use!

I agree, I need to buy a domain name, but I'm not sure hot to link it to my site :s My dad's a computer mister so I'll need to get his help, but you're very right!

Thanks for the feedback!

Just checked out your site - it looks very professional! You're right that there's a lot on it though. It was hard for me to decide what to include, but things like blogs and CVs, but linking online sources to simple pictures works well. Also, your 'next' and 'about' sections could be put on your 'home' page as a short bio and a news feed and you could include photos, showreel AND CV in your 'portfolio' page. Perhaps make the top header smaller so you have more room on each page? Linking to twitter is also useful as you don't have to keep updating the site.

Just less tabs and you're onto a winner!!

BTW nice showreel. Lots of variety! The final clip looks especially interestingly emo-angsty!

Thanks again

Hi Cat,

I really like your site it's very asthetically pleasing but simple which is just what an actor needs. I couldn't get the showreel to play but that could be my internet connection as its a bit up the creek today.

I like it x

Thank you Karly.

Someone else said they had issues with the show reel, but I'm not sure how to fix it as I'm not having the same problem... sorry about that!

Hi Guys

Both your sites look really good. Do you think websites are worth having for actors? I'm in 2 minds....but I have just finished mine so if you could let me know what you think. I used a program called site maker.

Hey Simon,

LOVE LOVE LOVE the home page! Only thing I would say it try to condense the pages you have on the main site. Simple is better.

I find that 'About Me' pages don't really provide any information as important as your CV would so personally I chose no to have one, but also maybe see where you can save space by linking to external sites or having all your media on one page?

Depends on who you're aiming your site at. I definitely think it's useful for an actor. It shows that you're serious about promoting yourself and, with most of us being spread over 2 or more sites such as Spotlight and CCP, it's good to mave a home to tie everything together.

Oh, and I recommend anyone putting together a site to collect testimonials. A good review from someone you've worked with can sometimes promote you better than you can! After all, who want's to read about someone saying how great they are? Get other people to do that for you ;)

Ok I've changed the setting so it should play as soon as the page loads.

Still issues? I'll try something else :)

Hey Cat,

Just to let you know that I could get your comedy reel to play but not your acting one. I don't know anything about technology so I don't know how to fix it, but just so you know.

I think I figured out the problem! I selected the option not to allow the video to be embedded on external sites, but it should be tip top now! If anyone can check and let me know if the video works that'd be wicked!

Thank you :)

And cheers Milkshake Micky!

Both the sites posted are really great, and different! I've started using Tumblr as well as my www.victoriaemslie.com website to put up all the pics of projects and it's quite a nice way of showing what you've been up to and chatting a bit about it.

Oh Cat, I wanted to ask you about the testimonials- so I've just wrapped on a project today and the director said that she would leave good feedback on CCP and I was surprised as I had no idea CCP asked for feedback- did you know about this and is that where you got your great testimonials from?

Hey Victoria,

I don't know about that CCP feature. I e-mailed my directors personally and politely requested that they write me a brief testimonial for my own promotional purposes and as you can see they were happy to oblige. I'd recommend you do the same as it's great to have!

I'm on my BB right now, but I'll check your website when I can grab a PC!
