Adding yourself to the IMDb

I think I must be highly stupid, but I can't seem to work out how to add myself to the IMDb.

I must be missing something on their website, as I can only seem to see their registration for general, free membership.

Thanks in advance...

I wasn't aware of how the process worked until I asked the questions.

I have now found out that I have been in films eligible for inclusion and have informed my directors to put their films forward if they chose to...so as you quite rightly say, if they put their films on I will get an automatic credit.

Originally I thought I could add myself (having been working on professional films for years now) and list my credits personally to be evaluated. Their web-site was unclear that it had to be a film already listed with them and that is where all you helpful people have come into play.

So why would I want to add myself? For the simple reason that I wanted an IMBd page and didn't know how to go about it.

Thanks for everyone's input and interest in the topic...

This is down to the director.

Again, I was not taking into account a director who would log their film onto IMDB and forget one of the leads.

It's hard enough for a director to get their film added, but if they leave you off the cast list, it's kinda inexcusable.

I've been involved on projects which qualify for IMDb but, for whatever reason, the production company don't seem to see it as being a worthwhile exercise to get the production listed....Madness, I tell you. It's the Internet Movie Database, for goodness sake....

You can add any production that qualifies to the database via new title but it's extremly hard to get it done - it takes months and they ALWAYS require proof ie. reviews, articles, website ect. from inderpendant source.

IMDB isn't really a must but it helps if your on there. Just remember they won't remove any info under your name unless it's majorly wrong - so be careful with typing!

IMDB adds most big budget projects and TV stuff itself.

Theres always contributers help in the messsage boards to help you and lots of friendly people at shop talk actors!

As a veteran in the industry for some 30 years, let me say, you can never depend on a production to add you. I have worn many hats from a top cat to an assistant. You work as something in the film, you deserve the credit. Most of the time you will be listed because it only helps the project, but sometimes, sadly so, you are forgotten in a moment of lapse. Stay on top of it.
