well Mark I could not agree more, but lacked the guts to say so...
the content has been extremely, well, dry. Almost got off the ground with the debate about being spied on in the middle of the night, several accomodation notices, which lets face it, are about as interesting as a facebook profile update, the odd question about east European actors seraching for..I forget what (and apols if any offended anyone there..but being antipodean reserve the right to offend as its part of our national make-up), and not even a whisper about 'Is acting Father Christmas a real acting job'.
No conspiracy theories, no nasty posts about student films, perhaps the odd defence of extra work being valid, and a long surviving post from someone proclaiming good news about his career turn...and personally speaking, I dont tune in here to get excited about good news/good luck stories. (but er..good luck to him!)
I did try to mention ep 4 of my lil cartoon about a week ago, to get some feedback (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5S_ZUy4zKU)
but got bumped off by several accom notices.
I tried to respond to the interesting post about theatre critics, and ending up writing to myself.
I hope someone corrects this situation soon. Forbes is usually good for a pithy reply, but he too has been absent of late.
I look fwd to seeing what happens next..but not for much longer, cant afford this service for too long.
I hope I tried to spice things up about the 'Invasion of the Bots' God I can hear the whole of CCP Yawn and I'm not surprised! But all my Invasion of the Bots stopped immediately when CCP changed their Site......I mean immediately - now its like 'Spot the Bot' - I miss them!!
Stuart..
I had no idea, so googled it, and up popped a certain clip that leaves nothing to the imagination about what he thought about Jimmy S... And he said that way back then???? Incredible.. Nice one.
There was a casting the other day that involved a 'second round'.
In the second round, you had to get naked with the director in order to feel 'comfortable'.
I seemed to be the only one who noticed, I expected uproar!
Maybe everyone is too busy waxing for their naked auditions.
Okay , here's one that might cause cotroversy - at least get the ball rolling ? Thhis is one for people more in their 30's onwards?
Do you find younger actors and actresses precious , facetious , obnoxious bastards?
Look it's a wide church , don't shoot me down in flames ( yawn ) making personal remarks - maybe it's you hee heee behind hand . as happened to someone who was merely honest about their experiences , he merely made an observation when he asked something .
Perhaps the reason it's so dull on here is because people are afraid they'll just have personal remarks set upon them because interesting debate encoutages malice. Or have people enjoyed working with younger people better? YOUNGER ONES , do you find older people impossible?
Who knows ? maybe we can learn from this . Perhaps it's training ; I was older amidst a load of youngsters , it was hellish , and they found me hell too! Well DEBATE . It's a broad church this one - but don't moan about no-one wanting to if replies are so ungenerous and bloody petty
Nice going Fuz.....but we need spice on this forum...it's missing!!
Jimmy Saville or younger actors....kinda goes hand in hand...as subjects I mean!!!
Hmmm...well OK....C'Mon......we can do better than this!! Let's get a bit more controversial.....!! I mean flat shares are fine...but not very spiced!!
Julie's....missing her little Bot....maybe they are in a boat on a lake somewhere...ROW BOTS!!! Ha ha ha …sorry!
C'mon you lot....or I'll reinstate my Actors grading system for some new discussion!!
C'mon...lest get some debate going....bit more grrrr grrrr!
Jimmy Saville or younger actors !!! THat was terrifying but very funny!
Seriously though , I've often wondered ; among other actors ,how much did you feel that you benefited from training - just generally the feedback of it? I'm still glad I went through the process but I found it very frustrating and I was baffled sometimes by feedback .Or those out there who haven't had training , does it matter? Can training give confidence or take it away?
Why is the Lion King (see audition notice on forum) allowed to specify that only black or mixed race actors can apply? If the idea is that you have to be African to be in it well that's crap because someone can be mixed race and from Asia or the Caribbean... If you can sing, dance and act you should be allowed to apply. Just would like to know what their rational is because you sure as hell couldn't get away with so overtly specifying that only white people should apply.
I'm with you on that one Jenna, would love to see what outrage there was if only white people could apply!!
I would love to be involved in such a production, and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that you had to be black/mixed race to apply.
Fair enough some companies want a certain type or a certain look for their production. For example, there is one that is wanting only a man/woman with ginger hair, but this is for one role, not a full cast!!
Personally I think it's ridiculous, and would love to know their reasoning behind it.
It is set in Africa and a lot of the characters have native African accents. They use puppets and masks but the actors are seen. If I remember some of the characters are white but I don't think they are currently being cast.
Just because you are mixed race does not mean you are African. They may have no knowledge of the culture or language and no connection to the country whatsoever but because their skin is the right colour they can apply. Conversely you might be white and from South Africa but you can't apply.
