Not sure if this is a current bug with the Mandy website, or whether updates have been in progress for some time, but is anyone else noticing the following...
It happens mainly when I view my Mandy profile without being logged in, but sometimes it happens when I AM logged in and click "View Profile". The formatting is completely different! The reviews aren't condensed/collapsed....they're laid out in full in a list format. Photographs are the same. New reviews don't have a date, just a "0" and are listed at the bottom.
And then the credits. My 2020 credits are not in the order that I put them in, they're all switched around.
So it just looks a bit untidy, compared to normal. If Mandy is "doing a Spotlight", and experimenting with a website upgrade...this one looks a bit dodgy to me.
Editorial Comment Hello Lewis,
I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with the formatting of your profile. We have had a recent update to the system. New reviews should still appear with the correct date attached, however, please do contact us at emails@mandy.com if your new review is not showing correctly.
Hi Toni, yes that's what I was thinking re The Stage - I might email them a link to this message thread in the next few days! So many actors are being affected, hopefully there's a story in it that might make the Mandy powers that be perhaps think about taking some accountability for their actions! We can but hope!
Tiffany, I think that's a great idea - Members inundating Twitter and emailing Mandy, etc. isn't having any effect at all, so perhaps a reputable publication writing about it may have more of an impact.
I will tell Equity about the issues we have all raised in this thread.
I've cancelled my Star Now membership and fortunately had no problems doing that. It's a real shame after getting some really great jobs from the platform over 9 years.
I don't have a premium Mandy membership any more, either. Perhaps if we all cancelled our premium memberships, then Mandy would realise how much they have messed people's careers up completely.
As each new topic has to be 'authorised'bu an admistrator (quite an odd departure from all other forums I've ever contributed to) negative comments are being suppressed
I'm posting here because 2 posts regarding receiving SPAM e-mails (I suspect something to do with the Bacstage takeover) have not made it on to the forum - which is a bit sinister.
Ah, yes, the continued data issues and spamming. I now have concrete proof from their own mouth that their data settings/preferences keep reverting. After I complained only a few weeks ago about spamming to both mine and my husband's emails and cross pollination of data between Mandy and Star Now, and after a bit of to and fro, I was told this:
"We believe that you and your husband are now opted out of all StarNow and Backstage marketing, newsletters, and site announcements. We’ve also opted your husband out of StarNow job/casting alert emails."
There in black and white.
And what happens last week? Star Now casting/marketing emails to my husband to two different email addresses. It is UTTER incompetence at best. Wilful data misuse at worst. I replied again to the email chain that the above response came from and nothing back so far.
Why didn't they just keep Mandy as was, as a standalone product, with its own USPs, clients and subscribers, instead of trying to integrate it into Backstage/Starnow.
The people and platforms are quite different.
The data breach is alarming.
I have already reported them to the ICO.
Sadly, I just can't see a way back.
From what I can see - terrible, low no pay work and work that shouldn't be on an Acting/Voiceover casting platform (ask yourself, would you see it on Spotlight?) CDs and Producers have cottoned on and are no longer using Mandy to post quality castings.
Oh, yes, me too re: the ICO. But before I made the report, I initially contacted Mandy to formally complain. I'm glad I did because they've condemned themselves out of their own mouths now. I've also started reporting all Star Now emails as spam to both Google and Microsoft.
The jobs just get worse and worse, which I didn't think was possible. One recently had no pay rate listed at all. and there's no minimum daily rate any more, as far as I can tell. Anyway most of them are for non-acting nonsense that I have zero interest in like teaching, walking tour guides and theme parks. I haven't applied for anything in weeks, and am so frustrated that I've wasted my money on an annual subscription which doesn't run out until November.
We've been talking about these issues, and reporting them (plus pasting them on Social Media to provoke a response) for months, now, and all to no avail - Nothing seems to have changed, at my end at least.
I've just tried to delete my card in case I forget to cancel when the renewal date comes round in August and there doesn't seem to be a way... I'm hoping we get a reminder a few weeks before because I am absolutely not paying for this rubbish again.
I echo what Ian said above - they should have left well alone. It is such a shame...
Amanda you can cancel now. You'll still remain a paid member with benefits (HAHA!) until your current subscription runs out, but as soon as it does it won't renew.
Wow! How did I miss that huge 'cancel payments' button?
Ironic that the one thing they're getting right is showing me how to cancel my subscription! :)
I’ve also had no daily emails. Plus any job offer emails go straight to junk…which is where my yearly subscription will be going in two weeks time. Employers are also recognising the crap site this has become by the greatly reduced jobs now on offer.
